You’re invited to send a birthday gift

by Andy Gustafson, Associate Conference Minister

August/September 2007

Andy Gustafson

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”

– Psalm 98:4

“Celebrate, dance to the music”

– Three Dog Night

Our Conference Annual Meeting and the General “Synod

in the City” which followed, were extraordinary times of celebration and joy. Speaker after speaker, from our own Minister and President, Jim Antal, to Bill Moyers, Senator Barack Obama, Marian Edelman Wright, and Lynn Redgrave, reminded us that the United Church of Christ matters.

We have both a rich history in the UCC to celebrate and a hurting world which needs our continued witness. What better way to celebrate than to give to our beloved church so its prophetic witness of justice, and caring ministries of compassion, will continue for

another 50 years.

Everyone from Massachusetts who attended General Synod has been invited to make a special birthday gift to the United Church of Christ. Our goal is to raise $50,000 as a demonstration of our commitment to the Gospel as lived out in and through the United Church of Christ. These gifts will be shared equally between the conference and national settings to fund new church starts, leadership development, discipleship

formation and prophetic witness.

Everyone is also invited to include a short birthday greeting which will be forwarded to the Rev. John Thomas, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ.

I would now like to invite all of you to join us in giving to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Send your check and a short birthday greeting to: MACUCC, 1 Badger Road, Framingham, MA 01702 and note in the memo line “50th Birthday Gift”. Celebrate!
