Interim Minister and President To Be Appointed by First of Year

December 2004

The Massachusetts Conference Board of Directors plans to appoint an Interim Minister & President by the first of the year, according to the Rev. Mr. Donald Remick, Chair of the MACUCC Board of Directors.

The Executive Committee members of the Board have completed talks with Nancy Taylor about her reflections on the Minister and President position. In addition, the members have received input from the full Board of Directors as well as the Executive Staff of the Conference, and have met regularly with Lorin Cope, Minister for Conference Relations, from the National Office.

“We have received numerous suggestions and excellent profiles of potential candidates,” reports Remick.  “We have selected three top candidates and will interview them in the coming weeks.”

“MACUCC churches are large and small, urban, suburban and rural. As a Conference, we support one another in spreading the Word and doing the work of Jesus Christ,” Remick reiterates. “We wish to seamlessly continue that support, so in conjunction with the interview process, there will be a meeting of the Board of Directors with the Executive Staff of the Conference in December to fine tune the focus and vision for the coming years.”

“Nancy’s leadership has been extraordinary. With a gifted Conference staff and a strong Board of Directors, supported by the excellent work of our Commissions and committees, we are in an exciting place.  We do not wish the interim time to be a time of mere maintenance.”

“The Interim Minister and President will be given the task to carry out that vision, so we will ensure that we have mindfully weighed all of the candidates’ qualities and abilities.”

Taylor has been called to serve as senior pastor of Old South Church in Boston. She will continue working for the Conference through the first week of January.
