Candidates
for president, area minister, interviewed
March
2001
It won’t be long before a few new faces come on to the
scene in the Massachusetts Conference.
Four searches - one for Minister and President and three
for area ministers - are ongoing, and three of the committees expect
to make their decisions within the next few months.
“All the committees are working diligently and are on
schedule, meaning we should have two, and possibly three, new staff
members on board by the first of September,” said Conference
Interim Minister and President Erwin Bode.
The search committee for the Minister and President is in
the process of interviewing candidates, and expects to make a
recommendation to the Board of Directors in May. The Board would
then recommend the candidate to Annual Meeting delegates in June.
Annual Meeting Delegates may also get a chance to meet the
new Associate Conference Minister for the Metropolitan Boston Area.
That search committee is also interviewing, and expects to present
a candidate to the Board in May. That appointment does not
need to be confirmed by Annual Meeting.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Area search committee is almost
ready to begin reviewing profiles, and that committee hopes to have
its interviewing complete before the summer.
The Western Area search committee has been formed, and
will meet for the first time in March. The committee is being
chaired by Alice Wilmot, a member of the First Congregational Church
UCC in Stockbridge.
