Site
manager hired for Warner Farm
May,
2001
As
a child, Dennis Forgea lived at Warner Farm, which at the time was privately
owned. Today, he lives across the street. And starting May 1, he became
new part-time site manager for the Farm, the Massachusetts Conference’s
120-acre retreat facility in Cummington.
Forgea
takes the place of David E. Gowdy, who has retired from the post after
five years.
“David has done a superb job and has improved the appearance of the
farmhouse immensely,” said Susannah Baker, Associate Conference Minister
for Policy and Administration. “No one could have loved the place more.”
Forgea will be retiring as the Regional Director for the Massachusetts
Registry of Motor Vehicles. He is serving his ninth year as an elected
member of the Cummington Board of Selectmen, is an Emergency Medical
Technician and First Assistant Fire Chief , and is the part-time operator
for the Town of Cummington Water Department.
“Dennis comes highly recommended and is very knowledgeable,” Baker said.
The Farm includes a rustic 1779 homestead featuring a roomy living room
with fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen and space to sleep 23 people
in double rooms and dormitories. The property’s barn has hardwood floors
and lighting, and can be used for large meetings.
The Farm is open from May to November. For rates and information contact
