The leaves may not have yet started to turn, but fall is bringing other big changes to the

offices of the Massachusetts Conference.

New Conference Minister and President Nancy S. Taylor began her duties Sept. 1st, as did two area ministers: Thomas Clough, the new Metropolitan Boston Area minister, and Harry Flad, the Interim Central Area Minister.

In preparation for Taylor’s arrival, the kitchen and a bathroom of the Conference’s parsonage in Framingham were renovated. In the offices, staff members spent hours cleaning out file cabinets and desk drawers and installing new computers.

Erwin Bode, who has served as Interim Conference Minister and President for the past year, officially retired Aug. 31st after 40 years of ministry. He had served as the Northeast Area Minister for 14 years. The search for his replacement is continuing, as is the search for a Western Area Minister.

Dick Sparrow, Central Area Minister for the past 15 years, also packed his bags over the summer and headed to Cleveland, where he is serving as the UCC Search and Call Coordinator.

The changes will continue throughout the fall as Susannah Baker, Associate Conference Minister for Policy and Administration, retires on Oct. 31. Her duties will be divided up among several current staff members and two new part-time positions will also be created at that time.
