New director hired for resource center

A new, part-time director has been hired for the Massachusetts Conference’s Resource Center, a lending library of video and print materials available to local churches.

Martha Butler-CookMartha Butler-Cook will serve in the position eight hours a week. Cook is also the Director of Children’s Ministries at the Plymouth Church in Framingham.

“She comes to this position with a love for the local church and knowledge about the needs of pastors, church educators and church school teachers,” said Susan Dickerman, Associate Conference Minister for Leadership Development.

Cook has a Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkley, California, and is a graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.
Cook will be available in the center, located at the Framingham Conference Center, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. She can assist pastors and church members in finding appropriate resources for education and program ministries, and is also familiar with curriculum, catalogs, periodicals and Web sites.

Cook replaces Elsa Marshall, who was the director of the center for five years. Marshall, who is also Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers, will continue to serve as a consultant to the Conference, providing workshops and coordinating the Learning to Teach leadership program.
