The Church Year (AM Session)
Safe Church (PM Session with EEYM)

We will begin by considering our call to ministry, why we teach. Community building and worship will bring us together as a group. We will learn about Christian formation and Christian practices and discover ways to make worship more accessible to young children.

This program takes us on a journey completely through the Bible. This discovery will help educators feel more comfortable with the sequence of Bible stories, the overall themes and the Biblical characters.  The Bible is foundational in the Christian faith and this session will make it more accessible to both leader and learner.

We will discover our own preferred multiple intelligences as we learn about Howard Gardner’s theory of  education, the stages of faith and exercises to help in curriculum choices and evaluation. This session will also help learners understand  and master the use of some of the tools to make their job easier, like a Bible Dictionary, concordance, atlas and others

We will be guided through the steps to insure that the church provides a safe environment for their children and youth.

This session is designed to help the group better understand the liturgical year. Through interactive learning, we will experience how educators can help make this information come alive to your learners and how the church year is a reflection of our faith and the Gospel.

Learning to Teach is a conference program for Sunday School teachers, Superintendents, Christian Education Directors and others involved in the ministry of Christian Education. Learning to Teach will offer practical and inspirational classes for those who are beginning or for people who feel they need to develop and gain more skills.

Elsa Marshall, Commissioned Minister of Youth and Christian Education for Maple Street Church, UCC, Danvers and Associate for Educational Ministries will offer leadership coordination for Learning to Teach. Each session will also feature experienced outstanding educators from throughout the Conference, the United Church of Christ and New England.

All participants will receive a resource binder loaded with helpful information, and will also include recommended bibliography/websites for the topics and sessions. These resources are included in the $250 program fee and are great supplements to the attendants’  ministry.

Sessions will offer worship, community building, fellowship and sharing of best practices providing opportunities to discern where God's Spirit has been present, how grace has been experienced in new ways, discussion of joys, struggles and how it is and has been with one’s soul.
