How
does your church treat first time visitors? Here's how
to find out!
If
you would like to discover and improve the way you greet first-time
visitors to your church, here is a great way to do so.
Here is how it works. Print out the Guest's
Checklist,
linked below, and give it to a member of a neighboring church
or even better, to an unchurched person and have that person
visit your congregation, unannounced, on a Sunday morning.
After the service that visitor completes the checklist and
returns it to you.
This will give you invaluable feedback about how a newcomer
discovers your church, finds the church, parks, is greeted
in the narthex, experiences worship and church school, survives
coffee hour, etc. This will help you improve that first-time
experience for newcomers.
Most research shows that a newcomer will make us his/her mind
in the first four minutes of a visit. So we have to be sharp!
Have fun with this instrument and deepen your ministry of
hospitality.
