Israel and Palestine

For years, the United Church of Christ has had strong relationships with churches and related organizations ministering in Israel, Jerusalem and the Occupied Territories of Palestine through Global Ministries.

Individual members and member churches have made pilgrimages to the Holy Sites and have worked with partners there witnessing both to the suffering of Palestinians under Occupation and to the fears of Israelis for their security. Members of the UCC have observed the non-violent resistance movement of both Israelis and Palestinians to that Occupation. UCC General Synods have passed numerous resolutions condemning the Occupation, calling on the US government to actively pursue a peaceful settlement, and encouraging churches to engage in economic leverage to effect a change in the situation.

However, the UCC has not had a designated body of people, within Conferences or on a national level, to carry out the spirit and intent of the resolutions. The Israel/Palestine Task Team of the Massachusetts Conference plans to provide leadership and resources to pursue peace with justice from within our Conference.

We invite you to read further, learn more, and take action. We also welcome your interest and further discussion. Please contact  Gay Harter or Linda Ziebell  if you have questions.
