Just Peace Ministry in the MBA is dedicated to empowering members of the MBA to grow together as a community of faith while seeking to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God,” and living into Jesus’ commandment to “love our God with all our hearts and minds and souls and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves.” It is a multi-faceted ministry, facilitated by the Just Peace Coordinator, The Rev. Dr. Fran Bogle. The JPC (Just Peace Coordinator) is resource person, committed to helping pastors, lay people and churches learn more about the many opportunities that exist for justice-centered ministries in the MBA, Massachusetts Conference, wider UCC and the world. The JPC does this in many ways, including coordinating the Just Peace Players, preaching at churches, consulting with mission, outreach and social action committees, presenting forums about the many kinds of peace and justice activities, witnessing to the community, organizing educational events and creating educational resources for individuals and congregation.
The JPC is a prophetic voice, calling the Association and the Conference to expand our visions of peace and justice, and challenging us to grow and change in response to God’s word. Coordinating and performing with the Just Peace Players has been one way the JPC has exercised a prophetic role in the MBA, the MACUCC and the wider church. The JPC also represents the MBA on Conference Task Forces and at local and national peace and justice events. Organizing lobbying at the State House and letter writing campaigns is another component of this ministry.
The Just Peace Coordinator is here to help us match our gifts to our world’s needs while broadening and strengthening our ministry in Christ’s name.
