JOIN A NEW AWAKENING BY PREACHING ON CLIMATE CHANGE

In December 2015, Paris will host the COP 21 UN climate talks. As an act of moral witness and a call to action, we are asking congregations to hear at least one sermon on climate change between St. Francis Day (October 4) and Transfiguration Sunday (February 17). READ CLIMATE SCIENTIST AND EVANGELICAL KATHARINE HAYHOE

As climate communicators, it’s vital to frame our message in a way that appeals to the values and identities of our audience. Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist who is also an evangelical Christian, knows this very well.  As she says in this Guernica interview, religion and science don’t have to be mutually exclusive, but in the case of climate change, “it’s essential to connect the science to our values. And for many of us, our values come from our faith.”  I think you’ll find her observations most helpful:
