Year's Highlights

July/August, 2004

Minister and President Nancy Taylor reviewed the year's accomplishments, including the sponsorship and hosting of the Amistad to remember and reclaim this story of courage that, in some ways, can be pointed to as the defining moment of the UCC's origin.

Other events mentioned were the Southeast Area Visitation Program, the winning of a significant legal case involving First Amendment rights with regard to "non-hierarchical" churches, evangelism and new members, and local sponsorship of the only interfaith event to be taking place during the Democratic National Convention.
