Scudder House Door Unlocked

Delegates authorized the Conference's Board of Directors to negotiate with South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) for the possible renovation of Scudder House at the Framingham Conference facility for use as a transitional sober housing residential facility for formerly homeless women. Scudder House has not been used for years and has been falling into disrepair. SMOC would be responsible for financing renovation of the house. Although there was discussion regarding legal costs of neighborhood opposition and a concern about 50-year lease language in the contract, it was a near-unanimous vote of approval.
