Thanks to funds provided by The Gift and The Promise Campaign
and the Massachusetts Women's Home Missionary Union, church
educators will now be able preview Christian Education Software at the
Massachusetts Conference Resource Center in Framingham.
Educators are invited to try out the new preview center at Open
Houses on March 21st, from 2 to 6 PM,
and April 7th, from 3 to 5 PM. After
that time, the preview center will be available to any church members who
call ahead to make an appointment.
There is a tremendous amount
of Christian Education software on the market today, but before churches
make financial decisions about what to buy, it is an important that
they are able to try out the software, said Resource Center Director
Elsa Marshall. “Previewing the software will allow them to determine
whether the software's theology supports their Christian Education goals.”
Marshall said she believes the preview center is the first of its kind
within the United Church of Christ. The preview center features full versions
of software from suppliers such as Cokesbury, Sunday School
Software, Behrman House, and Software Sharing Ministries.
The center features a computer with a large monitor, sound card
and headphones. Funds for the computer came from The Gift and The
Promise allocation earmarked for increasing Conference use of
communication technology, the same funds that have been used to provide local
churches with computers through the CONNECT! program.
The Massachusetts Women's Home Missionary Union
provided $2,000 for the purchase of the software.

7th, contact Elsa Marshall.
