May, 2001

Judy Robillard, Marjorie Thurston and Muriel Prime, members of the Rowley Congregational Church, take their turns carrying a 90-pound cross during the Good Friday Crosswalk from the Bradford Common to the First Congregational Church in Haverhill. Approximately 100 people from churches of various Christian denominations participated in the one-mile walk, which was held to awaken participants and spectators to the cost of God’s love, to raise awareness to the plight of the homeless and to raise funds for the Emmaus House, a ministry for the homeless in Haverhill. The walk was sponsored by the Essex Association; Emmaus, Inc.; the Haverhill Clergy Association and the Haverhill Interfaith Housing Organization.
