A
new, part-time director has been hired for the Massachusetts
Conference’s Resource Center, a lending library of video and print
materials available to local churches.
Martha
Butler-Cook will serve in the position eight hours a week. Cook is also
the Director of Children’s Ministries at the Plymouth Church in Framingham.
“She comes to this position with a love for the local church and knowledge
about the needs of pastors, church educators and church school teachers,”
said Susan Dickerman, Associate Conference Minister for Leadership Development.
Cook
has a Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion
in Berkley, California, and is a graduate of Earlham College in Richmond,
Indiana.
Cook will be available in the center, located at the Framingham Conference
Center, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. She
can assist pastors and church members in finding appropriate resources
for education and program ministries, and is also familiar with curriculum,
catalogs, periodicals and Web sites.
Cook replaces Elsa Marshall, who was the director of the center for
five years. Marshall, who is also Director of Christian Education and
Youth Ministry at the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers,
will continue to serve as a consultant to the Conference, providing
workshops and coordinating the Learning to Teach leadership program.
