Who We Are

New Life/New Hope in Southeast Region, MACUCC!

It was once said that “Tradition is the living faith of dead people, but traditionalism is the dead faith of living people”    In our region we are seeking that faithful and energizing balance between the deep wisdom of those who have walked with God before us and the new ways that God is Still Speaking in our era.  It is life giving.

The Southeast Region of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ includes seventy-four local churches from Quincy to near Provincetown and from Mansfield to West Tisbury! Twenty congregations are in Barnstable Association, with 18 on Cape Cod and two on Martha’s Vineyard; twenty-two are in Old Colony Association, on the South Coast of Massachusetts; with thirty-two in Pilgrim Association which includes Plymouth, “The Rock” with Pilgrim History connecting us to 1620!

There is a characteristic of our region of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ.  We celebrate the best of our history while we strive to not be bound by its limits.   Here you will find churches grounded deeply in the experience of God and moving to the rhythms of God’s Spirit.  You will find churches delving deeper into ways to be healing and transforming communities that touch hearts and souls while moving outward to make an authentic difference in this world.   You will find churches adapting to our rapidly evolving culture and world without losing their roots in ancient practices.   You will find churches that extend a genuine welcoming embrace to you regardless of your age, income, vocation, orientation, gender or ethnicity.

Our extravagant welcome is captured in a phrase: “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”  We strive to embody that concept ever more fully and faithfully.

I hope you will explore our region, our website and our churches.  You will find your life enriched by us as we are enriched by you.

Ministering through Christ’s Church,
