Annual Appeal

Dear Friends,

United. United by Christ’s call to BE THE CHURCH in a time such as this.

MACUCC clergy at the Washington Women's March

United because Christ calls us to witness together to make God’s love and justice real.  Working together increases our effectiveness.  Witnessing together amplifies our impact.  When we join together we gain courage.  Acting together makes us bolder as we follow Jesus’ most frequent admonition: “Fear not!”

The Massachusetts Conference brings churches together so we can imagine new possibilities and gather the courage to follow Jesus’ call. In March, the Mass Conference gathered over 750 UCCers for Super Saturday. Brian McClaren told us “the house is on fire, and it’s time to wake up and get bold” and that the UCC is needed now more than ever. Dozens of workshops emboldened participants to return to their congregations informed by practical knowledge and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Mass Conference needs your financial support so we can continue to bring congregations and UCCers together:

  • to share the best practices of our most vital congregations, gleaned from one another and our work with nearly forty churches through New Beginnings, Crossroads, and Churches Alive programs;
  • to engage in racial justice training led by our new Associate for Racial Justice Ministries, over 25 of which have been held.
  • to strategize how congregations can be part of the Sanctuary Movement, whose national leader, Noel Anderson, will be our Super Saturday keynoter on October 21, 2017;
  • to build on our moving representation at the Women’s March in Boston and other Commonwealth cities on January 21 when we joined with hundreds of other UCCers in Washington and elsewhere;
  • to build on the climate witness offered when eight Mass Conference pastors joined over 500 clergy from 22 faith traditions in Cannonball, North Dakota to protect the Standing Rock Reservation’s sacred lands and water.

Please join me in making a generous personal gift to the Annual Appeal of the Massachusetts Conference by following this link to our donate page. The world needs what the UCC has to offer more than ever.

As Mass Conference pastor, Rev. Todd Weir, said recently, “This is an important time to be the church, and do what we do best: living in joyful community, caring for the poor, fighting for the powerless, forgiving often, sharing earthly and spiritual resources, embracing diversity, making God’s love and justice real.”

With your generosity we can help make God’s love and justice a bit more real in an anxious world yearning for our leadership and commitment.  United in Christ, let’s make it happen!

In gratitude for your generosity and faithfulness,

The Rev. Dr. Jim Antal

Conference Minister and President
