Al Filipov Peace & Justice Award announced

The Al Filipov Peace & Justice Forum has announced that the recipient of its second annual Al Filipov Peace & Justice Award is John Hockenberry, journalist and advocate. John Hockenberry is a four-time Peabody Award winner and four-time Emmy Award winner. He has reported from all over the world and in virtually every medium. He is a former anchor for MSNBC and correspondent for NBC News, ABC News and National Public Radio. 

A paraplegic since an auto accident at age 19, Hockenberry is the author of a best-selling memoir, Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence. He is currently co-host of the live public radio morning news program, The Takeaway, produced by Public Radio International and WNYC New York.

Following receipt of the award on Sept. 19, Mr. Hockenberry will speak on the topic of, “The Main Event: Inclusion from Politics to the Paralympics”.

The Al Filipov Peace & Justice Forum was established in honor of a beloved member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church, who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
