Pianist Byron Schenkman oresents a salon-style recital of piano favorites: Beetnoven’s “Sonata Pathetique”, Robert Schumann’s “Scenes from Childhood” as well as less frequently heard works by Johannes Brahms and Clara Schumann. The New York Times has praised Schenkman for his “lovely singing tone” and the Pittsburgh Post-Dispatch has lauded his “beautifully sculpted piano playing.” He is also recognized for illuminating his performances with insightful commentary. A frequent recording artist, Schenkman will be performing on Second Church’s acclaimed 1870’s Streicher piano which closely resembles the instrument used by Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann.
