7:00 – 7:30 PM Eastern
Leader: Hannah Schock
In this informative and fun webinar, Hanna Schock, creator of Picture Book Theology, talks about how to use her website (www.picturebooktheology.com
) where she connects about 700 books to scripture. We’ll explore the spiritual benefits of using secular literature (picture books in particular) for faith formation of children, teens, and adults. Hanna will talk about how to do a theme-based search for PBT books, how to use non-fiction picture books, 5 questions when considering a book you want to use, and a variety of ministry applications for PBT.
Hanna Schock is a nationally certified school psychologist and former school teacher who has transformed her passion for teaching and literature into Picture Book Theology to encourage using secular picture books in ministry for all ages. For years, Hanna has written curricula for her church, First United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL. Writing 50 children’s lessons based on the popular “Manna and Mercy: A Brief History of God’s Unfolding Promise to Mend the Entire Universe” by Daniel Erlander was Hanna’s first venture in writing a curriculum. In addition to her website posts, Hanna focuses on writing lessons based on the hundreds of picture books featured at www.picturebooktheology.com. At present, Hanna is writing “Trinity Treasures,” a preschool Sunday school curriculum using picture books tied to The Revised Common Lectionary.
