We’re meant to live in peace with our neighbors, and, in today’s world, that means within a larger multi-faith
society. This interfaith faith formation experience is for confirmation-age teens. We’ll discover more about our
own beliefs as we learn from our Abrahamic brothers and sisters. Over the course of four Sunday afternoon
sessions, we’ll engage with neighbors from other faiths, visit their places of worship, sample traditional foods,
reflect on our own faith and practice, and bring “many hands” together to help others in our community.
The program will be facilitated by Rev. Dr. Karen Nell Smith and Breda Page Violette, recent participants in Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries’ 2018 Interfaith Youth Initiative. They and their interfaith colleagues invite you to come to learn more about yourself as we explore other spiritual communities.
Participants will learn more about their faith through the lens of
these other religions, their similarities and differences, and:
• Prepare for the journey of interfaith dialogue at the church in Leominster
on Sunday, October 14th, noon to 2 p.m.
• Visit a mosque to learn about Islam from Karima Hadj-Zoubir at the Islamic
Society of Greater Worcester on Sunday, October 28th , noon to 2 p.m.
• Discover more about Judaism from Rabbi Yehoshua Zehavi of
Congregation Agudat Achim, Leominster, on Sunday, November 4th, noon to 2 p.m.
• Invite new interfaith friends to join them in a local community service project throughout the fall and culminating on Sunday, December 9th, noon to 2 p.m., at the Congregational Church of Christ, Leominster.
You are welcome to join us for one or more sessions. Participants will be asked to review
brief introductory materials and bring a hospitality gift (to be determined prior to each
session). Groups from each participating church must be accompanied by at least one adult
and provide its own transportation. Safe-church permission slips are the responsibility of
each congregation. For more information or to register contact Karen Nell Smith at
