Remember. Embrace. Look Forward with Hope.

The Needham Interfaith Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience annual observance honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.  It was started by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998 in Allston, MA.

This year's event is sponsored by First Parish in Needham, UU; First Baptist Church in Needham; Congregational Church of Needham, UCC; Presbyterian Church in Needham; Christ Episcopal Church, Needham; Progressive Needham; OUT MetroWest; and Needham Coalition for Transgender Equality. It is endorsed by the ONA Ministry Team of the Massachusetts Conference, UCC.
