TO ALL AUTHORIZED MINISTERS IN THE SOUTHEAST AREA
For a few decades it has been the tradition of the Conference Minister of our Massachusetts Conference UCC to hold a Day of Covenant in each region of our Conference. Throughout my ministry I have enjoyed participating in these. They have always been such valued time to be with friends: colleagues in ministry. This year, I am looking forward to leading this with you for my first time.
And what an extraordinary time this is. From borders to budgets we see the political discourse playing out. And in our churches we experience those same tensions. At the same time we see the emerging of conviction and hope all around us. God’s Spirit is active in the world. And our world needs God’s Spirit active in and through us.
I look forward to seeing you and our colleagues at our annual Day of Covenant and Discernment on Tuesday, May 7. (If you are serving in a Specialized Ministry and are unable to attend a morning gathering, I’ve set aside an evening in addition to the morning gatherings. See below for registration.)
I have hopes for our gathering:
- Together, we will seek to deepen the connections we share from which we draw support and strength.
- We’ll reflect on a series of videos that are insightful, soothing and provoking shared at a national UCC gathering, AM21: Wisdom for Well-Being.
- We’ll also explore some of what is emerging as we attempt to birth something creative, faithful and innovative in a new Conference.
In these and other ways we will re-covenant with one another, our God and our Calling as we celebrate Jesus’ presence at our common table. In addition, I will do my best to respond to whatever questions or concerns you may have about the UCC, the Mass Conference and our developing collaboration with the CT and RI Conferences.
I expect the schedule may look something like this:
8:30 Gathering and coffee/tea
9:00 Group Building
9:20 Thanks to and welcome from host pastor
9:30 Opening Worship:
9:45 Sharing insights on Wisdom for Well Being
10:55 Small group conversations
11:10 Report back
11:20 What’s on your mind and in your heart regarding:
- Our coming “Together as One” with the CT & RI Conferences
11:45 Sharing the Lord's Supper
I very much look forward to being with you. Please tell us whether or not you will be coming by registering HERE
