September 24, October 29, November 19, December 17, January 14, February 11
Using 6 short pieces of fiction as our mother tongue, this series of conversations explores the dream of “the good death” as fodder for considering our own dying. We will read one piece of fiction each month in preparation for our monthly shared inquiry which will range from the logistical to the spiritual.
September 24: "The Boundary" (Wendell Berry)...on family and dying
October 29: "Fidelity" (Wendell Berry)...on community and dying
November 19: "Self-Reliance" (Edith Pearlman)...on integrity in dying
December 17: The Snows of Kilimanjaro (Ernest Hemingway)... on courage and dying
January 14: Gunnar's Sword (Carol Bly)...on grace and dying
February 11: The Great Way is Not Difficult (John Tarrant)...on spirituality and dying
(While we hope you will attend the whole series, this is come-when-you-can, so let us know the dates you plan to attend)
Cost: a sliding fee scale of $15-$40 per session is requested
