Is your youth group or adult church team interested in helping a child in need? How about building them a bed??
The Mass Coalition for the Homeless' Bed for Every Child is now in its 7th year and continues to have a simple mission that has a huge impact on a child’s life growing up in poverty: give that child a bed of their own. Although a bed is not the first thing we think of when discussing poverty, far too many children are growing up in a household that simply cannot afford a bed for their child(ren); therefore these children are not able to obtain the good night’s sleep they need to get the education they deserve.
Today, A Bed for Every Child is currently receiving over 200 referrals per month of children in need of a bed for their own. To meet the demand for beds and to involve people of all ages and communities, A Bed for Every Child launched the “Build A Bed Project” to bring together sponsored teams to help build the bed frames for delivery. For every $250 raised, a congregation can send a team of 3 – 4 youth/adults to build a bed. All materials are provided.
The goal is to build 70 beds on Dec. 7. Teams will work together over a 2.5 - 3-hour period to build, sand and paint the beds for delivery. Upon completion, A Bed for Every Child will not only deliver the bed frame, but a new twin mattress and bedding, to a child on our waiting list.
