The Fall Fellowship gathering for the three southeast associations in the United Church of Christ (Barnstable, Pilgrim and Old Colony) will be on Sunday, November 17th at the First Congregational Church in Fairhaven. The gathering will begin at 2 pm with light refreshments and a chance to greet old friends and make new ones. Following at 2:20 pm, the three associations will retire to separate rooms in the church to hold their individual meetings.
At 3 pm, our keynote speaker, Diana Butler Bass, will present What's Gratitude Got to Do With It? Whey We Need 'Thanks' Now More Than Ever. Her theme this fall is to help people get back in touch with gratitude as a healing path in the midst of crisis -- and how gratitude translates from our personal lives into our public life. Her hope is to open new paths of conversation, help people remember hope, and to suggest some interesting "political" pathways for renewing trust. Her two latest books, Grateful and Grounded will be for sale at the event.
This is a rare opportunity for a chance to hear a presentation by an award-winning author at no charge. We invite you to spread the word to your churches, book groups, local libraries, family, friends, and neighbors. The church can seat up to 500 people, so there is lots of room. We ask that you let us know approximately how many people will be coming in your group so that we can plan accordingly. Please email BAScribe@comcast.net with the count - 1 to 100 - all are welcome!
