This webinar will discuss the steps to a successful redevelopment project from preparing a mission plan through the construction process and beyond, including an in-depth look at various options and deal structures available to churches. It will also cover church best practices as well as how to avoid common pitfalls.

Renato Matos is a Partner at Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld LLP. Since joining the firm in 2009, Renato has primarily focused on the Real Estate, Corporate and Taxation areas of their practice. Renato routinely works with religious and not-for-profit corporations on complex real estate transactions He is counsel to numerous denominational governing bodies, including the Atlantic District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, as well as individual Baptist, Episcopal, Presbyterian and non-denominational congregations. Renato focuses much of his practice on protecting churches’ assets and developing strategies for long-term asset growth to ensure the sustainability of the missions and ministries of his clients. Renato is active in the community and regularly donates his time and expertise to numerous charitable organizations.

Jodi Warren is an Associate in the New York office of Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld. Jodi’s practice primarily includes Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial Transactions, and Religious and Charitable Organizations. She routinely works with religious and not-for-profit corporations on complex real estate transactions including long-term leases, sale or purchase of properties, joint ventures and development projects. She serves as counsel to numerous denominational governing bodies as well as individual congregations. She represents and counsels clients in all aspects of the development, construction, finance, acquisition, and divestiture of assets.
