Probation fees an unreasonable burden

Probation fees are often a great burden for those who have to pay them. This is especially true for those coming out of jail or prison, who often don't have a job, and find it very hard to get one with their record. The result is that they are often re-incarcerated.

Probation fees are part of the commonwealth budget. The budget will be considered by the House of Representatives in April, and by the State Senate in May. Please contact your state representative and state senator (you can find them here) and ask them to remove probation fees from the budget for those coming out of jail or prison, and reduce the cost for those who have not been incarcerated.
