Yes on 3: Faith Week of Action

9/28/2018

Faith Week of Action: October 8-14

Faith communities across the state are mobilizing for the Faith Week of Action. This is a time for supportive faith communities to speak out in support of defending dignity and respect for transgender people. Let’s show the world that people of faith in Massachusetts will not stand for discrimination!

Contact Taj Smith, Faith Organizing Director, at taj@freedommassachusetts.org for more information and to sign up.

SOME WAYS YOUR FAITH COMMUNITY CAN PARTICIPATE:

  • Recruit a team of 5 people to attend a phone bank or canvass in your area
  • Host a phone bank after service through our remote phone banking system (NEAT)

  • Collect YES on 3 pledge cards with your offering or during coffee hour

  • Organize a letter writing party after service

  • Call through your congregation’s directory about this issue

  • Open up your building to a community-wide educational forum

  • Preach a sermon about transgender equality (We can provide sermon starters if needed)

  • Add the YES on 3 campaign to your list of community prayers

  • Display rally signs or print a banner for the front of your building

  • Ask your congregation to provide food and/or transportation for weekend canvassers

  • Post your support publicly on social media

  • Write a letter to the editor

  • Ask your local clergy association to publicly endorse YES on 3

Participation is flexible and only limited by the imagination.
