Deb Raymond was on the Christian Ed committee for 3 years when the CE director resigned. She jumped at the chance to become the Christian Ed Director at UCC Burlington. She has been in this position since 2017. She also works full time as an office manager at Aero Space Fabricators. Being the director at this church is especially meaningful to her since this is the church she grew up in beginning in the late 60’s. Deb has learned many life lessons and made lifelong friends in this church. She hopes to be providing an environment for the students to create similar experiences and friendships in their own faith explorations. Deb thanks the Conference & Debbie Gline Allen for offering this CE certification program & networking to better serve the children & youth of her church & beyond.
Cindy Tolin had been raised in the Episcopal Church and also worshiped at the Lutheran Church and the UCC, when she joined the United Church of Christ, Southbury when her young family moved into the area in 2008. She quickly joined the Board of Christian Education after becoming a member and served as a volunteer in 2010 and worked for Southbury as CE Administrator until August 2019. Cindy currently serves as the Director of Faith Formation at the Congregational Church of Naugatuck. Having taught religious education for over twenty years, while also working with youth professionally in the higher education arena, the CE certification program broadened her perspective. She has learned from encouraging and insightful leaders of the UCC Southern New England conferences and looks forward to continuing to serve the church in this ministry. Cindy is grateful to the Southbury congregation for supporting her through the certification process and to the many new colleagues, friends and inspiring visionaries who continue to shape her spiritual journey.
