The following letter was sent to pastors and other church leaders earlier this week. The letter references new Strengthen the Church resources now available to congregations.
Dear Church Leader,
I’m writing to help support your church in receiving this year’s Strengthen the Church Offering, a special offering of the United Church of Christ designed to help build our future as a Church.
As our Conference Minister, Don Remick, announced a few weeks ago
, all of the funds from this offering that remain in the Conference will be dedicated exclusively for the support of ministries with children and youth
. This is a reaffirmation of our Conference’s commitment to a core area of mission that’s faithful to Jesus’ call, essential to our future, and in keeping with the values of our partners in the Connecticut and Rhode Island Conferences as we move with them toward union.
Whether it’s through Christian Educator training, Youth Ministry opportunities, or Church School resources, we want to continue to provide the support necessary for your church to have the most robust faith formation ministries possible. The Strengthen the Church Offering is a direct way for your church to ensure that all of our churches have such support. We hope you’ll participate this year!
We suggest you receive the offering on Pentecost Sunday, June 9
. However, feel free to receive it at any time that works best for your church. For example, since the focus this year is children and youth, tying the offering in with your end-of-program-year Church School celebrations is another possibility.
As promised, we’re providing you with resources to help you with the Strengthen the Church Offering. Follow this link
to a recently updated Conference web page that will give you access to a flyer, bulletin insert, article for your church’s newsletter, and a bulletin blurb.
We hope your church will participate in the Strengthen the Church Offering this year. As always, we encourage you to be a 5-For-5 Church through your participation in the Strengthen the Church Offering, as well as Neighbors in Need, One Great Hour of Sharing, and The Christmas Fund special UCC offerings.
If you are participating in the Strengthen the Church offering, remember to send your congregation's donation directly to the Massachusetts Conference. And if you have questions about the Strengthen the Church Offering please do not hesitate to contact me.
Grace and peace,
Associate Conference Minister
