The Rev. Dr. Willis E. Elliott of Kearney, Nebraska and Craigville, MA died on Saturday, July 5, 2014. The memorial service was held at 10:00am Monday, July 14, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Kearney, NE with the Rev. Stan Murdoch officiating. He is survived by his wife Loree, son, Willis E. Elliott III “Bill” and his wife, Jennie; grandson, Matthew Mines Elliott and his wife, Lacey Mae; and granddaughter, Emma Rachel Brooks and her husband, Lucas.
The Rev. Dr. Willis E. Elliott was a student all his life, completing five degrees in religion, including two doctorates: Th.D. from Northern Baptist Seminary and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His professional ministry included chair of religion and philosophy from Ottawa University in Kansas, ten year pastorate in Morton, Ill., visiting professor at the University of Hawaii and teaching in four theological seminaries with his last ten years at New York Theological Seminary.
Rev. Elliott was on the national staff of the United Church of Christ, serving in in-service training for clergy, literature planning and production, and teaching clergy/laity in conferences in almost all of the 50 states for nine years. When he retired to Craigville, MA he was volunteer chair of the worship and education committee of the Craigville Conference Center, a retreat center of the United Church of Christ.

Cedar, Ottawa KS 66067; or AseraCare Hospice in Kearney.
