The Rev. Ralph Miller Cook, Jr., who served churches in Connecticut and Massachusetts, passed away on Jan. 25, 2018. He was 91.
The Rev. Cook beloved husband of the late Janet E. (Fickinger) Cook, was born May 9, 1926 in Holyoke, MA the was the son of the late Ralph M. Cook, Sr. and Marion M. (Marshall) Cook. The Rev. Cook served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He graduated from University of Maine, and was a chemical engineer for several years before going into ministry.
He graduated from Bangor Theological Seminary, and was ordained and called to Second Congregational in Amherst, MA, in 1956. He served there until he was called to First Congregational Church of Granby, CT, where he served from 1961 to 1982. He the served a church in Columbus, Ohio, and also served as a staff member of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ. He retired to Suffield in 1991, and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Suffield.
He is survived by sons, Howard Cook of Middletown, David Cook of Columbus, OH, Stephen Cook of Suffield; daughters, Martha Cook of Winsted, Laura Waddell and her husband, Scott of West Suffield; and grandchildren, Heather Waddell and her spouse, Noel Rosenthal, Joshua Waddell, and Kyle Arvisais and his partner, Lauren Eddy. He was predeceased by a brother, Marshall Cook.
A memorial service was held Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 4:30 PM, at First Church of Christ, Suffield.
