Kairos Palestine: A Moment of Truth
In 2009, a broad spectrum of Palestinian Christian leaders published "Kairos Palestine: A Moment of Truth", modeled on a similar document which emerged from the Christian churches of South Africa in 1985 under apartheid. The original Kairos Palestine document is addressed to Palestinians, Israelis, the international community, and the churches of the world. It lifts up the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love that lie at the heart of the Christian Gospel, and affirms that resistance to injustice and oppression is firmly grounded in these principles. Individuals and communities are urged to study and endorse the document. Additionally, a number of groups have responded to the call of Kairos Palestine by developing aids facilitating its study by individuals and local communities. These are detailed below.

There is great power in witnessing to the life and experience of others, so for those who are able, we urge a visit to the Holy Land that focuses on the multiple narratives of the region’s peoples. The following organizations provide such trips:
In 2005, Palestinian civil society issued a call for a campaign of boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against the state of Israel until it complies with international law and human rights for Palestinian. This movement is rooted in a long tradition of non-violent popular resistance in Palestine and the belief that non-violent resistance is a legitimate response to oppression as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi in India, the Civil Rights movement in the U.S., and aspects of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa.
A global movement has emerged. Religious groups in the US and Europe have joined the BDS movement in response to the Kairos Palestine’s call.
